The Day When I Stood Not Out

Memories …..

They make us feel lonely when we are surrounded by tons of people

The same memories will make us feel we are amidst every one when no one is around.

I dint write this statement on my own I guess I have read it some where J

Well what ever might be the statement the word ‘Memories’ has turned me on and I could feel Spirals with the traditional ting ,,,,, ting ,,,,,,,,, ting music in the background and I was driven into my flashback.

2001 March

A Boy with a Vikram Series Physics Question bank in his hand was walking on the terrace. He was confused, whether he should concentrate on the “Cathode ray Tube” or the “BiPC babe” on the next terrace.

Realizing that ultimately neither of it would fetch him nothing, he decided to finally go with the “CRT” as it would fetch him 4 marks in his coming exam feeling that “Something is better than nothing.”

Half an hour from then the girl on the next terrace has finished her revision and gave a smile to the CRT kid and went down, which made the guy realize that its time for him to stop staring at the nature and wind up the current chapter. As his friends and family had loads of expectations on him J.

Meanwhile the guy was feeling

“Amma kehti hai beta state rank layega

State rank key saath college mey free seat layega

Magar yeh tho koyi na jaaney ki uski nazarein hai kahaan,,,,,“

The struggle with the Physics ended as the sun was on top of his head at 9am (Actual reason was The motivating force that was making him stay on terrace is absent now) so now the place shifted from terrace to kitchen,

Subject from physics to Biology and a twist in the story is this time there was some one who had the duty of monitoring him and giving him a mock SSC Science paper in the evening.

The boy dint had any doubts about the exam that he would give the next day but he was worried about the mock paper in the evening.

Internally feeling

“Maa Mother Oka Tiger

Matladalantey Thunder

Job emo School Teacher

Nature lo big dictator”

Finally the battle ended after the auspicious moment of answering the physics and biology papers, followed by the main tension of the biggest and the first hurdle of his life.

SOCIAL STUDIES (Tiger’s Subject).

The boy had no questions

Why should he read about the cathode ray tube?

Why should he study about Cell division and Mitochondria?

But he always used to sit and wonder

Why should he read about Bismarck?

Why should he read the same question “Difference between Microeconomics and Macroeconomics?”

Why should he read about the Inflation and the Lorenz Curves?

But the only answer he used to get is “I have to” because if the history of getting a score of 1/8 for an 8 marks answer repeats, then his future would end up in a cycle shop :D (As he gets warning from the tiger that if he doesn’t score 500+ then he would be kicked out and he should work in a cycle shop. This kind of warnings were common at that time for every kid who gives his SSC public exam)

He never used to feel that he is struggling for education except when he has to read Social Studies

He just used to sit and think

“Mujhe Civics na aaye …. Mujhe Civics na aaye …. Mujhe Civics na aaye ….

Mujhe History na aaye… Mujhe History na aaye… Mujhe History na aaye…

Mujhe Civics na aaye Mujhe history na aaye koi jaaye zara dhoond k laaye

Naa janey kaha Brain Kho gaya … Naa janey kaha Brain Kho gaya …”

The Struggle ended with reading some model papers and mugging up all the things Which Bismarck did when he was alive.

Names of autobiographies of great people like Hitler,

Locations of Grand Canyon, Mount Fujiyama, Great Wall of china etc

The question paper contained almost all the things that he mugged up

The only Feeling that he got while he was writing the exam was

“Oopar Waala Jab bhi detha detha Chappar Phadkey”

Though he was unable to locate the black sea in the World map the strict invigilation has helped him in succeeding.( Thanks for the Governments school teachers).

Three Cheers …. Battle Ended ….. Exam Finished

But as usual he had to wait for the Final day “The Day of Results”

Waiting like “a batsman on 99 for the third umpire’s verdict”

Generally he can stay cool without tension but

There were few more people who were competing with him

He had to break an unbeaten record of 494/600 which his cousin has established in 1995

Last but not the Least he should not end up in the Cycle Shop [:>]

The Boy was waiting for the results in the same stadium which holds the previous record of 494/600(his cousins place [J]) mean while his friends were tension less (in turn increasing his tension sitting in theater)

Feeling

“A nimishaniki Emi jarugunooo Evaroohinchedaroo

Evaroohinchedaroo” ( Which simply means “What’s Next”)

All his eyes on the Gate and all ears on the sound of the Hero-puch( his cousins moped who went to check the kids marks in a Cyber café)

Finally The Moped came … the gate opened the kid rushed to the Gate

The Guy who got down the hero-puch hugged him and almost lifted him in the air saying “Come on ra Kittu . you did it ra …..”

You got 509/600

Though that may not be a good score now,

It took the boy to the top of the world as

He got a warm hug from his cousin,

A smile on his Tiger’s face who was already making sweets for distribution (confidence which parents have on their children but they never show it out)

He scored 87/100 (not another 1/8 out of 8 marks)

And last but not the least he didn’t end up in the cycle shop.

Just having a feeling

“AAj mey oopar aasmaan neechey

Aaj mey aagey zamaana hai peechey …”

This may sound funny or boring but if you turn back the pages of your diary I bet nothing can stop you from Smiling.

Cheers
